Envision Hydrogen Technology, a subsidiary of Envision Group, announced on August 25th that it will build a 2GW electrolyser manufacturing plant in Inner Mongolia-1GW for ALK electrolyser and 1GW for PEM electrolyser. The total investment of this plant would reach 469mn Rmb ($69mn).
Envision Group is a world-leading company providing renewable energy system solutions and net zero technology partner. With the mission of ‘solving the challenges for a sustainable future’. It designs, sells, and operates smart wind turbines, smart storage system and green hydrogen solutions through Envision Energy, and AIoT-powered batteries through Envision AESC.
In 2022, Envision Energy won 19.5GW wind turbine system procurements, rank 1st in China, followed by Mingyang and Gold Wind. Among these 19.5GW contract, 6.7GW is from oversea, accounting for 82% of the total amount that China’s manufacturers got. It is arguably a renewable energy equipment giant with global footprint which has innovation center in Denmark, Germany, US, and Singapore.
Envision Energy has made remarkable progress in hydrogen energy business in 2023. On June 6th, it announced that it has signed a contract to supply 1.67 GW wind turbines for NEOM Green Hydrogen Company, the world’s largest utility-scale hydrogen plant powered entirely by renewable energy.
The mega plant is located at Oxagon, Saudi Arabia’s region of NEOM. NEOM Green Hydrogen Company aims to produce carbon-free hydrogen using solely renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power to produce up to 600 ton per day of carbon-free hydrogen by the end of 2026 This initiative serves as a critical step forward in promoting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 mission of reducing carbon emissions while simultaneously encouraging economic growth and job creation.
On August 15th, it announced it signed a MoU with Canadian Funds Management giant Brookfield to supply wind power and green hydrogen solutions to Australian upcoming green hydrogen program.
On August 3rd, Envision Energy announced that its solar-wind power-green hydrogen-green ammonia-green methanol project got approval from regulatory authority of Inner Mongolia. This project has three phases: phase 1 will build 100,000 Nm³/h green hydrogen and 300,000 ton green ammonia capacity; phase 2 will have the same products and scale with phase 1; phase 3 will build 100,000 Nm³/h green hydrogen and 300,000 ton green methanol capacity. The total investment of this project would be 9.8bn Rmb ($1.36bn) and it is expected to be fully operational by 2028.
Envision Energy regards electrolyser supply capacity as a foundation for its promising hydrogen business.
The 2GW electrolyser in Inner Mongolia will make the company become the 2nd largest electrolyser supplier in China, only after Longi, which has 1.5GW capacity at present and plans an expansion toward 5 to 10GW in 3 years.
