A clear roadmap is needed to develop underground hydrogen storage. With no targeted policy intervention, modelling shows that currently announced projects do not meet the storage needs: by 2030, the gap is 4 times the size of the capacity expected and by 2050, the gap could be more than 10 times the amount needed.
