China is the largest hydrogen producer in the world, accounting for approximately one third of global output. Almost two thirds of production comes from coal, while natural gas and industrial by-products account for a little under 20 percent each. Only one percent was produced via electrolysis using renewable energy in 2020. Nevertheless, China represents a major producer of alkaline electrolyzers
