Peric Hydrogen Technology, a leading electrolyser producer in China, announced that it has delivered 2 electrolysers to a top Indian steel company, and Peric also declares that it’s working for another Indian steel company to deliver 4 electrolysers soon.
The demands for electrolyser from Indian clients seem to increase rapidly this year. On July 4th, Longi announced that it signed a electrolyser supply contract with an Indian client, while the detail of this contract was not revealed. This contract is a milestone for Longi as it’s the first export order for the renewable energy equipment giant.
China’s top electrolyser manufacturers now regard India as a promising market. The India government has approved its National Green Hydrogen Mission on Jan 4th, 2022 with objectives to make India a leading producer and supplier of green hydrogen in the world, and create export opportunities for green hydrogen and its derivatives.
The Mission also specifies the 2030 target-development of green hydrogen production capacity of at least 5 MMT (Million Metric Tonne) per annum with an associated renewable energy capacity addition of about 125 GW in the India. This strategy will certainly boost the green hydrogen investment in India and increase the demand for electrolysers.
However, India domestic are not able to supply such huge amount electrolysers, at least within foreseeable future, which leave great opportunities to global electrolyser producers. China’s top electrolyser manufacturers now eye India as a major export market. According to our resources, as of 1H2023, China’s top 4 electrolyser producers, Longi, Peric, SunGrow, and Cockerill Jingli, have 7.5GW electrolyser manufacturing capacity, let alone over 20 other companies have released their capacity expansion plan.
China’s domestic green hydrogen projects market, although ramping up dramatically, still could not satisfy China’s electrolyser producers. Chinese electrolyser and associate equipment suppliers would collaborate with major green hydrogen projects developers to enter global market.
